The same can be said about Mecca, a city whose history is tied to the Arabs and to the people who made it their capital.
When I think of major cities in western arabia, I think of the cities of Medina and Uthman, cities which were built on the ashes of the Muslim Empire. The city of Medina was built on the site of a small, but very influential, mosque called Madrassa, the building of which was a major source of revenue for the city. It is speculated that the city of Medina was the first capital of the Muslim empire, but I can’t prove that yet.
