A strategic vision is any vision of the future that is informed by the past. It is the result of your intentional decisions, based on what you know and what you have learned.
We may not have all the answers, but we can certainly make some of them. I’m a big fan of strategic visions, because they give us insight into what’s likely to happen next. That’s why my job is so much easier if I know what I’m supposed to do next. A strategic vision gives us a clear path to take. You can make a lot of decisions and build a lot of progress without ever looking back.
I think the thing that I like most about strategic visions is they focus on our current actions, and not the past. You can have a lot of action but not a lot of time. You can have a lot of time, but you can’t have much action. All the “action” you have going on in your life is a distraction. A lot of what you put out into the world happens before you notice it.
When we make strategic visions we tend to focus on what we want to focus on. We often think of it as making plans and then letting the world go by. But what we’re really trying to do is we are trying to move a lot of stuff out of the way so we can get to the stuff that we want to.
The problem with a lot of these plans is that they are all the same. You want to be the person who gets the biggest payday, the man who gets the biggest promotion at work, the guy who gets the best sex, the guy who gets the biggest raise at work, etc. All this is because you had these ideas in your head before you actually lived them. Then you have to go through the process of convincing yourself to actually do all of these things.
One example of this is the typical life goal of most ambitious people: to get ahead in their work and in their life. But that’s not a very useful goal for most. Sure, it might help you achieve this goal, but it’s not going to help you achieve a lot of other goals you have. It’s a very useful goal if you’re an ambitious person, but it’s not useful.
This is why many people go through the process of creating a vision board. It helps you to put the ideas in your head before you actually live them, to make sure youre putting the right things in your head. It also lets you see your goals for the future if you want to.
I have a very good friend, who I call the Dorky-Lusty-But-Not-So-Dorky-Lusty one. He is a super geeky guy. He is so obsessed with strategic vision that when he talks about it he sounds like a cross between a video game and a Harry Potter book. He is also very good at video games.
