This is a concept that I think is underappreciated. It’s not just that you win the game, but that you win the story. And it’s a hell of a story. I loved the concept of it. It isn’t just about the mechanics of the game. It’s about the characters and how you develop them. The story is the reason you play the game in the first place.
I’ve been playing Deathloop for two weeks now and I am very impressed by it. I have a few criticisms though. Its the first time I’ve played a game that has a large amount of scripted content, and I’m really worried it will be a disjointed mess, but its definitely an experience.
There are a lot of complaints with the plot. You start by getting a message in the sky about an island that is going to have a repeating day and you need to take out eight Visionaries. Thats a lot to go through, and there is a lot of that. It’s a lot of “you’re playing a game” moments, and its not really a game.
Its a game with a lot of youre playing a game. Thats a lot to go through, and there is a lot of that. Im glad to see that the designers are trying to put some real thought into the plot. I like the idea of them being a bit more intelligent than simply just throwing a bunch of new, random things at us. Its a bit easier to play, and there is a lot of that.
